September Raid prizes Preview

Another base hitter, some videos, and pictures

This preview took place on 9/1/2016, and we were able to test the new hull, weapon, and special. The hull is a Blitzer designed to hit bases. The weapon was a new scattergun with some interesting effects. The special was generic in that it paired nicely with the new weapon, but I think we have room to make the builds better with older specials.

First the hull




Fury


As you can see great combat speed, high deflection for explosive and missile. They have a decent radioactive deflection, but they do not have the unreactive ability and booms are possible. I was able to raise evade to around 40%, but I think a better armor might be shockwave plates due to D98. Also, this hull was frail to ballistic and concussive damage.

The hull has an overdrive ability, and it gives out a base wide pinch effect.

Conflagration Scattergun




Corrosive damage, and a shorter range of 82. It did decent damage and had a mortar death weapon effect. It paired nicely with the hull as you can see great wall and building damage. It did add a little bit of armor, and the weight was enough that I could load up the hull with a full complement of the scattergun.

Hydroxide Injector




This special added +1 to multishot and 25% boost to corrosive damage. This blueprint was pretty straightforward and benefited the weapon. Then questions I have is if the 25% is worth more than an extra shot from another special that grant +2.  I did not get to test that on the server was trying to get the hull driving down and a way to cause them damage.

How to stop them?

From what I could see in the preview server the best way to stop them was with Concussive. One guy had a hell wraith in his base, and it did very well. That, of course, is a one-trick pony, though, as the person can come back with some thermal and then the sub is dead. Another is ballistic, so ballista is best for turrets. Gamma did not do much to them, and there was damage but not like a vendetta running into the gamma. You could run by the gamma in the majority of base setups.

So, I would look to add concussive weapons that we have gotten in the last few FM cycles. Arbalest Behemoth/Omega/Gamma, and d98 or cyclone launcher on Vanquisher, Enforcer or even Retribution. Turrets I would go with the ballista, blunderbuss, and gargoyle depth charges if you can get enough walls to get some shots off.

We got an FM prize a while ago called Chromium overlay that grants 20% corrosive resistance to your walls. If you put it on a lab, that becomes 40%. This tactical module could help your walls last a little longer in the battle.
